Movable walls with impressive acoustic performance are infinitely useful additions to any professional environment, instantly creating a versatile space that can be opened up or closed off in the blink of an eye, whenever the situation calls for it.
This is always a popular choice in schools, in which classrooms and groups of children need to be separated for a short while, without having the rigmarole of moving to a new room entirely. Or in hospitals, where patient privacy is still greatly valued without the need to move people between individual wards.
But as we shift ever closer to the colder months (autumn and winter) it begs the question of whether innovative walls such as these are particularly useful during this time of year. As it turns out, they are!
Here at AEG Partitions, we’re your go-to provider of all things related to movable walls, folding walls and sliding folding partitions, with years of experience in the field. If you’ve been looking for an acoustic movable wall installation with different stacking options, we’re the team to speak to. With this in mind, let’s dig a little deeper into the topic.
How movable walls can be used in the latter/early months of the year
Close off segments of a room to retain heat in each
When temperatures start to get a little nippy in certain months of the year, the largest spaces are usually the ones to suffer the most.
Large office spaces, classrooms or other professional settings can be difficult to keep warm in the autumn or winter months, especially if there’s only one heat source that’s expected to boost the temperature of the entire space.
But if such a space had movable walls, they would be able to close off certain sections of the room and retain heat in the smaller spaces. With nowhere else to go, the heat would keep the closed-off section of the room much warmer, instead of thinning out across distances.
Temperatures can be adjusted between room segments
Depending on the space or setup in question, using movable walls to separate segments of a larger room could open the door for more personalised temperature control.
For example, if one side of the room is too cold, while people on the other side are at a reasonable temperature, that side of the room could be separated and a more personalised heating system, such as a small electric heater, could be applied. All without altering or affecting the temperature of the wider room.
Walls can be opened to allow air to move more freely between spaces
The same can be true at the opposite end of the spectrum. During the colder months, it can be easy for rooms to become overly stuffy in an attempt to fend off the cold.
If these rooms already have movable walls in place, and these walls are closed, they could be opened up once again to allow air to move more freely, and the temperature to dissipate slightly. Without the need to open windows and let the cold air come rolling in, lowering the temperature too far.
